Vinyasa Flow Yoga
Vinyasa Flow Yoga is an active (Yang) form of yoga. It is a flowing, dynamic practice, in which poses
alternate to the rhythm of the breath.
The continued focus on breath and the movement brings us more easily in the here and now.
Each class contains a few occuring elements.
The start of the class, with a short meditation/concentration and focus on breath (Pranayama),
the warming up with the use of Sun Salutations (Surya Namaskar) and standing and floor postures,
and the end of the class with a meditation and final relaxation.
The Sun Salutations are often used as a connection between the different postures,
which brings a flowing and playful element to the class.
Vinyasa Flow Yoga is an excellent way to create more space in the body and mind, deeply connect with your breath,
while lengthening and strengthening every muscle in your entire body.
In the classes you work on your endurance and concentration and will further develop your inner strength.
The Restorative/Yin Yoga classes offer a peaceful yoga practice with a series of easy, supported poses.
The postures are held longer, so that you get the opportunity to explore your body and mind and deepen the experience.
Unlike Yang based yoga, whereby the muscles are engaged in a position, in this form of yoga the muscles stay relaxed and you focus on the deeper connective tissues, ligaments and joints.
This yoga form is very suitable to relax and deeply connect with yourself.
Our Restorative / Yin Yoga classes are also a very good choice for those who have an injury or need to rehabilitate,
as all postures can be adjusted to each persons needs.
Restorative / Yin Yoga balances a fast lifestyle and has an amazing capacity to heal physical- and
mental stress related symptons.
Yin and Yang are the Taoist concepts which describe the two relative qualities present in everything. Yin is all that is static, silent, hidden, cold and soft. Yang is all that is dynamic, ever-changing, visible, warm and strong.
One does not exist without the other.Yin Yang Yoga blends two styles of yoga into one practice – bringing together the benefits of passively holding yoga poses (Yin) with more dynamic sequences and standing postures (Yang).
The lesson may start with quiet Yin postures and then be more active or just starting with
Yang Sun Salutations and finish with relaxed Yin Yoga.
Combining both Yin and Yang elements in one class provides a balanced practice and can have a powerful effect on energy.
“The practice of yin/yang yoga helps us learn about stillness in movement and the flow in stillness.” Sarah Powers
